The Adam Project marks Ryan Reynolds’ latest collaboration with Netflix, with the two having first partnered for Michael Bay’s 6 Underground. The streamer and actor most recently worked together for the action comedy Red Noticewhich was a critical underwhelmer but a smash ratings hit for Netflix, becoming the platform’s most-watched original movie within a month of its premiere, surpassing previous record holder bird box. This success led to Netflix ordering two sequels with Johnson, Gadot and Reynolds all expected to return with writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber and planning to film back-to-back.
Early reactions to The Adam Project recently began rolling out, praising Reynolds’ sci-fi adventure for its emotional gut punches and the nostalgic vibe of its sci-fi story. The film is one of many high-profile projects netflix has on the horizon, with the Super Bowl ad also offering exciting new looks at the Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans-starring action-thriller The Gray Man from avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo and Jason Momoa’s odd fantasy character in Slumberland. Audiences can look forward to the streaming platform continuing to expand their original movie roster with the premieres of Fistful of Vengeance on February 17 and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot on February 18.
