Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer received her own official character poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhich was recently released by Marvel Studios.

Of the six character posters released for the Doctor Strange sequel, one features McAdams as Christine Palmer, indicating that the character will have a bigger role in the film than originally anticipated. Christine receiving her own character poster is a welcome surprise after a recent television promo for Multiverse of Madness seemingly removed the character from a pivotal scene, which saw Doctor Strange and America Chavez looking through a multiversal portal. Dr. Christine Palmer first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016’s Doctor Strange, and the exact nature of her role in the sequel is unclear. Though, it was recently confirmed by producer Richie Palmer that Christine and Strange would not be in a romantic relationship in the sequel.

“They are not back together, unfortunately… as we saw at the end of Doctor Strange, he chose to stay in the Sanctum, meaning he can’t entertain his selfish desires,” Palmer said. “He would’ve loved to stay with Christine at the end of that movie, but he did the hard thing. He said, ‘No. I’m going to be a Super Hero and defend our reality. I have to move on.’ Our movie shows him dealing with the decisions he’s made. He might regret how things ended with Christine; he still carries a torch for her.”

Following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Homeit was reported that Multiverse of Madness would have “more fun with the multiverse,” with reshoots for the film including even more cameos and character introductions than originally intended.

The first trailer for Multiverse of Madness teased everything that Phase 4 of the MCU has been headed towards, depicting not only a possible team-up between Doctor Strange, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Wong, but the MCU debut of America Chavez/Miss America. Multiverse of Madness will pick up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and tie directly into two of Marvel’s Disney+ series, Wanda Vision and Lokiboth of which dealt heavily with the multiverse.
